Alison Konecki is a San Francisco-based arts and culture worker passionate about facilitating impactful experiences with a diverse array of artistic visions and expressions. She has spent her fifteen-year career at a range of organizations, from the alternative art space Transformer in Washington, DC, to the public art nonprofit FOR-SITE Foundation in San Francisco. She has held positions spanning communications, development, and programs, most recently serving on the leadership team at the renowned art center and artist residency Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito, CA as the Director of Communications & Digital. At Headlands, she oversaw strategic planning and project management to bring greater visibility to the organization and the artists it served. She also led communication initiatives including a full organizational rebrand, a year-long 40th anniversary celebration, and the launch of a digital platform for presenting original content. Prior to Headlands, Alison inhabited several roles as part of the small team at FOR-SITE Foundation working to realize large-scale, site-specific exhibitions on national park land, including managing project communications and interpretation.

Alison was the recipient of the California Art Leaders grant from the Center for Cultural Innovation (CCI), and held fellowships with Emerging Arts Professionals/SFBA, California Association of Museums (CAM), and ArtsFwd. In addition to her arts administration work, Alison is an award-winning freelance writer whose work has appeared in AFARThe Evansville ReviewHidden CompassUSA Today, and other publications. She holds a BA in English and Art History from Canisius College, an MA in Art and Museum studies from Georgetown University, and a certificate in Art & Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art. Every Tuesday evening you can find her tending to sick and injured seals and sea lions on a volunteer animal care crew at The Marine Mammal Center.
